Increase Customer Retention – Stay In Contact With Your Current Customers

One of the biggest problems that I see businesses make is that they don’t have a way to stay in contact with their current customers or their prospects.

Most small businesses have this mindset that they don’t need to market to someone after they’ve bought from them. But here’s the problem, you have competition and research shows that nearly 70% of people fall off due to an attitude of indifference toward the customer. Often the easiest way to grow your business is to retain more of the customers that already know you.

Here’s some crazy stats on customer retention – acquiring new customers is anywhere from 5 to 25X more expensive than retaining new ones and increasing customer retention by only 5% boost profit by 25 to 95%.

The easiest way to show that you care about your customers is to create some kind of system to stay in front of them. Email and text message marketing is the most obvious way to do that but what other things could you do? Could you send personal notes or personally call them?

Depending on your industry and your clients your strategy can change.  You can keep them engaged with you by offering other deals, new promotions and things of interest related to your business Or even better yet can you personalize your message with something that’s important to them. The important thing to do is set up a system and stick to it.
